The CathSling is a patented, non-adhesive, soft fabric necklace.
It supports the access lines of Hickman-type Central Venous
Catheters, Portacaths, and PICCs used for infusion therapies. The
CathSling helps reduce infections by reducing tugging and movement
of the access lines to prevent the compromising of the sterile
dressing over the implant site. The CathSling replaces adhesive
tape, adhesive devices, gown clips, and safety pins that can lead
to skin trauma, or dislodgement of the catheter.
The CathSling addresses catheter-related problems, improves
patient comfort, and reduces health care costs. The CathSling is
an FDA Class I catheter securement device and is Medicare
reimbursable.
How Does the CathSling Help Reduce
Catheter-Related Problems?
Inadequate catheter support causes movement at the implant site
and compromises the sterile dressing over the site. Serious health
problems and higher healthcare costs result, including
catheter-related infections and dislodgement. The CathSling
prevents accidental and inadvertent tugging and movement via the
infusion lines and helps the sterile dressing remain in place.
